Charles Hoskinson Mocks Solana’s Struggles Amid Fake News Article – BitRss
The ongoing rivalry between Cardano’s founder, Charles Hoskinson, and the Solana community resurfaced during a humorous exchange. The latest interaction was sparked by a fake news article shared by Nansen CEO, Alex Svanevik, on X (formerly Twitter).
Svanevik posted a satirical screenshot claiming that Singaporean customs arrested the founder of Solend (now Save Protocol), a Solana-based project. The fabricated report suggested the arrest occurred after the founder attempted to smuggle 20,000 condoms into Singapore. The condoms were supposedly meant for Solana’s upcoming Breakpoint event, scheduled to take place in Singapore. The joke served as an amusing backdrop to the rivalry between Cardano and Solana communities.

Charles Hoskinson’s Response
Svanevik compared the absurdity of the situation to bringing “20,000 steaks to a vegan festival.” Hoskinson joined in the mockery, joking that the Solend founder simply wanted to “safely” use the Solana blockchain. His comment humorously referenced both safe sex and past issues faced by Solana.
Solana has dealt with multiple network outages over the years. The most recent one, in February 2024, lasted five hours, while a previous outage in September 2023 extended for 17 hours. In addition to these outages, Solana experienced congestion issues during periods of high demand in both April 2024 and early 2022. Despite these problems, Solana remains known for its fast transaction speeds and scalability.
Ongoing Rivalry
Hoskinson has often used Solana’s technical difficulties to take jabs at the rival network. After the February outage, he made another subtle critique. In 2022, he questioned the choice of “Grizzlython” as the name for Solana’s hackathon.

The rivalry gained traction after Solana co-founder, Anatoly Yakovenko, made a dismissive comment about Cardano. Meanwhile, Solend’s founder, Rooster, embraced the humor. He shared the fake article and joked about Singapore’s bail laws.
Rooster even posted a photo of a Solend-branded condom, jokingly claiming that at least one made it through customs.
